From the desk of the Manager,

This is my favorite time of the year with sensory of sights, sounds, smells, and pumpkin spice tastes. Everywhere you look there are beautiful displays of bright orange pumpkins, rich burgundy mums, golden straw bales, and corn stalks that welcome us here at Grand Haven. The cool brisk weather greets us every morning and the frost tell us that the seasons are changing for us here in the Quad Cities. I hope that all of you are taking advantage of the bus trips to enjoy the fall colors and see the farmers in their fields!

Fall begins the celebration of Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is always short lived as Christmas quickly encroaches into Grand Haven Assisted Living and takes over the holiday spirit sooner and sooner each year. Grand Haven Retirement Community is going to have not one, but two Thanksgiving celebrations! Our friends At First Central State Bank in Eldridge, Iowa are going to host a special turkey dinner for our residents on November 15th at Noon!

Ever since I became Manager at Grand Haven Retirement, it has been our family tradition to come and work to ensure that no one eats alone on Thanksgiving. COVID-19 raised some havoc with that tradition, but I am glad to announce we are full steam ahead on another wonderful meal that we hope will impress! All Residents and Resident Family Members are encouraged to attend! We will be serving slow roasted turkey, oven baked spiral ham with all the trimmings, multiple salads, and of course your favorite pie for dessert.

Have a wonderful month everyone!

Dan
